マイクロスクエアエンド形とスモールスタンダード形は、スクエアエンドの中で最も小型なものを指します。ほぼ水平のシルエットのため、末広がりのスモールバタフライ形とは区別されます。
特にスモールスタンダード形は、19世紀後半から20世紀初頭の歴史写真でしばしば確認できます。Vゾーンの狭い当時のジャケットやベストに収まるサイズとして、需要があったと考えられます。また正装のホワイトタイとしても使われていたようです。
歴史的には中心をあまり絞らない状態で、作り結びタイプにしたものが多かったと推測されます。手結びタイプの細い幅のスクエアエンド形を｢小型結び｣すると、同じシルエットを形作ることができます。
